New Delhi: In a powerful tribute marking the 94th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation (AKIF) hosted the National Space Conclave – 2025, bringing together students, scientists, policymakers, and industry experts to advance India’s space and technological ambitions. Held under the leadership of AKIF Co-Founders Dr. APJMJ Sheik Saleem and APJMJ Sheik Dawood, the three-day conclave was envisioned as a national platform to inspire young innovators, showcase aerospace advancements, and foster meaningful academic–industry collaboration in cutting-edge scientific domains. Deep Technical Engagement with Eminent Scientific Leadership The conclave featured an intensive and research-driven technical program, highlighted by 478 project presentations from participants ranging from school-level innovators to postgraduate scholars in engineering and science. The diversity and depth of topics reflected the evolving landscape of India’s space-tech ecosystem, including: Advanced Propulsion & Aerospace Systems Spacecraft Engineering & Mission Design Earth Observation & Remote Sensing Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) Nanotechnology Applications Humanoid Robotics & Prosthetic Architectures Sustainable Energy Production Models The proceedings were elevated by the distinguished presence of Nigar Shaji, Project Director of Aditya-L1, and P. Veeramuthuvel, Project Director of Chandrayaan-3. Both scientists shared critical insights into mission architecture, navigation systems, and the technical complexities of deep-space exploration and solar observation. Their addresses offered participants rare, first-hand exposure to real-world mission strategy and systems engineering challenges. The conclave was further graced by Raksha Nikhil Khadse, who reinforced the Government of India’s commitment to strengthening innovation-driven growth and expanding opportunities in space technology for the nation’s youth. Celebrating Landmark Student Achievements During the event, AKIF revisited its pioneering student-led milestones that reflect its commitment to democratizing access to space systems engineering: 2021 World Record Launch of 100 Femto Satellites, designed by a collaborative team of over 1,000 students. India’s First Hybrid Sounding Rocket (February 2023), developed with the participation of more than 5,000 students nationwide. These initiatives stand as powerful demonstrations of experiential learning in aerospace engineering and underscore AKIF’s mission to translate classroom theory into hands-on innovation. Rigorous Evaluation and Strategic Management The technical presentations were evaluated by a distinguished jury chaired by ISRO scientist Dr. Gokul D, alongside experts including Dr. Anjali Chincolikar, Mr. Rahul D Shah, and Dr. Srividya Muthuvel. Projects were assessed on parameters such as innovation, feasibility, technical depth, scalability, and societal impact. Event operations were spearheaded by Mr. Milind Chaudhary, General Secretary of AKIF, under the strategic guidance of veteran academician Dr. Dilip Deshmukh. Student leadership played a pivotal role, with coordination support from Dharmin Yatish Gujarathi (VIT Vellore) and Kalpesh Patki, reflecting the collaborative ethos of the conclave. Advancing “Vision Beyond 2020” Established in 2015, AKIF continues to align its mission with Dr. Kalam’s “Vision Beyond 2020” — a roadmap focused on transforming India into a knowledge-driven, technologically empowered nation. The National Space Conclave directly contributed to this vision by: Inspiring students to pursue careers in aerospace and advanced research Promoting innovation in frontier technologies such as MEMS and nanotechnology Enabling direct mentorship and dialogue with ISRO scientists Encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration across institutions A Catalyst for the Next Generation of Space Leaders By facilitating nearly five hundred research presentations and fostering direct engagement with leading scientists, the National Space Conclave – 2025 emerged as a critical incubator for future space engineers, technologists, and researchers. More than a commemorative event, the conclave translated Dr. Kalam’s ideals into measurable, student-driven innovation — reinforcing the belief that India’s journey toward technological self-reliance will be powered by the curiosity, creativity, and courage of its youth. As the nation accelerates its advancements in space exploration and scientific research, initiatives like this ensure that Dr. Kalam’s dream continues to take flight — not just in orbit, but in every young mind determined to innovate for India’s future.
