AI, also known as Artificial Intelligence, has become a highly discussed topic in today’s world. Its origins can be traced back to the 1950s, but it gained recognition in the 1970s. Japan took the lead and initiated the Fifth Generation Computer Systems project in 1981. This program presented a ten-year roadmap for the development of supercomputers. Later on, Britain launched a project called “Alvey” with a similar objective. European Union countries also began a program called “Esprit.” In 1983, several private organizations collaborated to establish the “Microelectronics and Computer Technology” consortium, aiming to develop advanced technologies such as Very Large Scale Integrated (VLSI) circuits for Artificial Intelligence.
The meaning of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the development of intellectual capabilities through artificial (synthetic) means. According to the founder of AI, John McCarthy, it is the science and engineering of creating intelligent machines, specifically intelligent computer programs, meaning it is the intelligence exhibited by machines. Artificial Intelligence is a subfield of computer science and is rooted entirely in computing systems. The ultimate goal of AI is to create tools that can work intelligently and autonomously, reducing human labor and manual work. It uses machine learning to mimic human intelligence. Siri, Alexa, Tesla cars, and digital applications like Netflix and Amazon AI are some excellent examples of AI technologies.
ChatGPT (Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer) is a type of Artificial Intelligence bot. It is developed by OpenAI and serves as a search engine. Similar to Google search engine, it operates on an AI system. It immediately types out and presents the answers to the questions you ask. Earlier, this task used to take hours to complete. The increasing popularity of AI worldwide and its advantages have also raised concerns among people. The perspective on AI varies among individuals. Some consider it good, while others perceive it negatively. Those who view it positively believe that AI can never replace the human mind.
- 1.Using AI will increase productivity and also lead to solutions for complex problems.
- 2.AI has the potential to create immense possibilities in fields such as healthcare, education, and agriculture.
The belief of the other group is that AI can pose a risk to employment. As AI continues to advance, people may increasingly rely on computers or robots, enabling them to perform a wide range of tasks for which human labor was previously required.
AI is entirely focused on data and its analysis. Through software and algorithms, patterns in data are recognized. As machines receive additional data that aligns with those patterns in the future, they begin to perform tasks accordingly and produce results. AI-based machines work like humans with a highly efficient brain that remembers everything, but they lack their own thinking. They solely rely on data for evaluation and output. The inability to think distinguishes AI from humans. The day machines start understanding their own limitations, AI will become uncontrollable.
Google’s former chairman, Jeffrey Hinton, states that AI systems are not only as powerful as the human brain but can also surpass it in many aspects. They can rapidly learn anything faster than humans, making them capable of advancing beyond humans. The founder of ChatGPT, Sam Altman, also believes that we need to develop a system that can identify the risks associated with AI; otherwise, it could create significant political challenges.
There is no doubt that AI is continuously working to greatly improve our lives. It has made it easier to ensure the quality of products and keep a close watch on fraudulent activities. The contribution of AI in various fields is remarkable and impactful.
1.Getting information about the traffic mapping system.
2.Obtaining search engine results.
3.Obtaining a list of desired songs on a music app.
4.Accessing results available on WhatsApp bots.
In the field of healthcare, AI can greatly facilitate the delivery of healthcare services to individuals. For example:
1.Reducing the cost of treatment.
2.Making medical examinations easier and faster.
3.Using AI to book appointments.
4.Accessing a patient’s medical history.
In the field of education, AI can help alleviate the increasing workload of teachers and automate certain tasks. For instance:
1.Understanding students’ needs and tailoring tasks accordingly.
2.Developing curriculum and disseminating it to students and teachers easily.
In the financial sector, AI can be utilized for various financial services, such as:
1.Using AI software and chatbots for insurance purposes.
2.Simplifying complex financial processes.
3.Preventing fraud and ensuring transparency in financial transactions.
In the business sector, many organizations are now providing services through AI-based chatbots, such as banks, Amazon, electricity departments, municipal corporations, etc. This allows customers to obtain a wealth of information by interacting with chatbots.
In the field of entertainment, AI can be used to personalize advertisements and detect fraudulent activities. In the media industry, AI can aid in generating timely scripts and improving the productivity of newsrooms.
In agriculture, AI can be employed to provide timely information on environmental changes to farmers, and AI-powered machines can perform tasks like crop planting and detecting crop diseases.
In the automotive sector, AI can be used to develop smart cars. Cloud services, GPS, and camera-equipped vehicles are some examples. Tesla’s self-driving cars rely entirely on AI.
In the field of weather forecasting, AI can provide advanced information about weather changes, enabling timely preparations and preventing property damage.
In the field of science and technology, the emergence of AI has been driven by the advancements and work done in the field of science and technology itself. AI has enabled us to develop intelligent robots, computer games, language recognition, and many other applications in various subjects.
AI can also be utilized in the field of research, leading us towards new discoveries. Today, we can work together with AI and chatbots to perform tasks such as marketing, business, sales, social media, and creating fast-paced advertisements, saving both time and money.
There are four stages in AI programming:
- Learning: This initial stage involves gathering data, defining rules, and obtaining results from that data. The rules are referred to as algorithms, and through programming, we can reach the desired results.
- Selection: In this stage, we determine which rules need to be followed to reach the correct results.
- Improvement: Programming is done in a way that allows the software to modify itself to achieve the correct result when necessary.
- Creativity: In this stage, AI can be enabled to create new images, write new articles, compose new music, and more, using techniques such as neural networks and algorithm-based systems.
In the 21st century, AI and chatbots have a promising future. They allow us to go beyond human thinking and perform tasks that would require the work of thousands of individuals simultaneously. This can help us save time and money. However, we need to keep in mind that AI and chatbots can only perform tasks based on the existing data they have been trained on. They do not verify the accuracy of the tasks performed. Therefore, it is important to use AI and chatbots appropriately and ensure their correct utilization in our work.
