Guidelines for 10 Bagless Days for Classes 6 to 8: Enhancing Skill Education

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has introduced an innovative approach to education by recommending a “10 Bagless Days” initiative for students in Grades 6 to 8. This initiative aims to provide a holistic learning experience by integrating practical skill education into the school curriculum, thereby fostering a more engaging and stress-free learning environment for students.

What Are 10 Bagless Days?

Under the new guidelines, students in classes 6 through 8 will participate in a 10-day period each year where traditional classroom learning is replaced by hands-on experiences. During these bagless days, students will have the opportunity to intern with local experts such as carpenters, gardeners, potters, artists, and other skilled professionals. This experiential learning approach allows students to gain practical skills and insights into various trades and professions, making education more relevant and enjoyable.

Objectives of Bagless Days

The guidelines for 10 Bagless Days were officially launched on July 29, 2024, coinciding with the 4th anniversary of NEP 2020. The Minister of State for Education, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, announced the new initiative in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
