Results are based on an alternative assessment policy due to the pandemic
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the results of the Class 10 board exams on Tuesday. Over 19 lakh students had appeared for the exams this year, which were conducted in an alternative assessment mode due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As per the alternative assessment policy, the board took into account the results of the students’ performance in Class 9 and internal assessments conducted by the schools for Class 10.
This was done instead of the traditional board exams that were cancelled in the wake of the pandemic. According to the data released by the CBSE, the overall pass percentage for Class 10 students is 99.04%. A total of 16,639 students have scored above 95%, while 2,20,935 students scored between 90% to 95%. Furthermore, 3,81,256 students scored between 80% to 90%, and 5,47,217 students scored between 70% to 80%. Commenting on the results, CBSE Controller of Examinations, Sanyam Bhardwaj said, “We are happy to announce the Class 10 results today.
This year’s results are based on an alternative assessment policy that has been put in place to ensure the safety of the students in view of the pandemic. We wish all the students the very best for their future endeavours.” The board has also announced that the students who are not satisfied with their results can appear for the optional exams that will be conducted once the situation normalises. The board will soon release the details for the same. The CBSE has also congratulated the students who have passed their exams and have advised them to stay safe and follow all COVID-19 protocols.
