Expert panelists discuss ways to improve learning outcomes for India’s 26 crore students on the occasion of Civil Services Day
The Ministry of Education’s Department of School Education and Literacy organised a breakaway session (BS-III) on the theme of “Improving Quality of Education- Improving Outcome Through Vidya Samiksha Kendras” at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi on April 20th, 2023, to commemorate Civil Services Day. The program featured expert panelists such as Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Education, and Shri Anurag Behar, CEO Azim Premji Foundation, who discussed various ways to improve learning outcomes for India’s 26 crore students.
During the session, Shri Sanjay Kumar stressed the importance of having a policy that prepares students for the 21st century while keeping them connected to their roots and values. He also highlighted the need to digitize the monitoring and tracking of learning outcomes through Vidya Samiksha Kendras (VSK), which was first established in Gujarat. Other panelists, including Shri Sunny K. Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Changlang, District, Arunachal Pradesh, and Dr. Ratanakanvar H. Gandhvicharan, State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha Gujarat, shared their experiences and best practices for improving learning outcomes.
This was the first time that the Samagra Shiksha Scheme of School Education Department was selected to be a part of the PM Awards category on the occasion of Civil Services Day. The session provided an opportunity for various stakeholders, including KVS, NVS, CBSE, CIET/NCERT, NCTE, NIEPA, NIOS, and teachers, to come together and discuss ways to improve the quality of education and learning outcomes in India.
