The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced the NEET PG 2025 results on August 19, 2025, for the exam conducted on August 3, 2025, in a single shift across 301 cities and 1,052 test centres. Over 2.42 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, with 1,28,116 qualifying for counselling. Candidates can access their scores, ranks, and the merit list on the official NBEMS website, natboard.edu.in. Below are the key details on cut-off marks, how to check results, and what comes next.

Category-Wise Cut-Off Marks

The NBEMS has released the qualifying cut-off scores based on percentile criteria, determining eligibility for counselling for MD/MS/DNB/DrNB and PG Medical Diploma courses for the 2025-26 session:

  • General/EWS: 50th percentile, 276 marks out of 800
  • General PwBD: 45th percentile, 255 marks
  • SC/ST/OBC (including PwBD): 40th percentile, 235 marks

These cut-offs are lower than previous years (e.g., 2024: General 291, PwBD 274, SC/ST/OBC 257), reflecting a single-shift exam without normalization, as mandated by the Supreme Court. Candidates scoring below these thresholds are ineligible for counselling.

How to Check NEET PG 2025 Results

To access the NEET PG 2025 result and merit list, follow these steps:

  1. Visit natboard.edu.in or nbe.edu.in.
  2. Click on the “NEET PG 2025 Result” link under the notifications section.
  3. Enter your application ID, roll number, date of birth, and other login credentials.
  4. Submit to view your score (out of 800), NEET PG rank, and All India 50% Quota rank/category rank.
  5. Download the result PDF and print it for future reference.

Individual scorecards will be available for download from August 29, 2025, for six months only. Due to high traffic, the NBEMS website may experience slowdowns—candidates should keep refreshing.

Note: The result PDF includes roll number, application ID, total score, and NEET PG rank. The All India 50% Quota rank and category rank are used for counselling. MBBS/FMGE aggregate marks (as submitted in the application) will be verified during admission to break rank ties.

Merit List and Counselling Process

The NEET PG 2025 merit list ranks candidates based on their scores, with 1,28,116 qualifiers eligible for counselling. The merit list includes:

  • All India Rank (AIR): Overall rank among all candidates.
  • All India 50% Quota Rank: For 50% AIQ seats, declared separately.
  • Category Rank: For OBC/SC/ST/EWS candidates, valid for AIQ counselling.

Top Performers:

  • AIR 1: A candidate from SCB Medical College, Cuttack, scored 707 marks.
  • AIR 69: Vipul Rajput, score not specified.
  • AIR 350: Ritidhwaj, improved from a six-digit rank in 2024.
  • AIR 276: Jenil Monapara, scored 650 marks.
  • AIR 386: Shubham Patel.

Counselling:

  • All India Quota (AIQ): Managed by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for 50% seats. The schedule is expected soon on mcc.nic.in.
  • State Quota: Conducted by state authorities for remaining seats, based on state-specific criteria.
  • Process: Involves online registration, choice filling, and seat allotment across multiple rounds (first, second, mop-up, stray vacancy). Candidates must report to allotted colleges with documents like the NEET PG scorecard, MBBS certificate, and internship completion certificate.

Tie-Breaking Criteria:

  1. Higher number of correct responses.
  2. Fewer incorrect responses overall, then in Sections A, B, C, and D sequentially.
  3. Higher MBBS/FMGE aggregate marks (verified at admission).
  4. Older candidate gets preference.

Key Insights and Implications

  • Single-Shift Exam: Conducted on August 3, 2025, from 9 AM to 12:30 PM, with 200 MCQs (25% negative marking for incorrect answers). No normalization was applied, ensuring uniform scoring.
  • Transparency Concerns: Despite Supreme Court recommendations, NBEMS did not release the answer key or raw marks, drawing criticism from aspirants on X.
  • Competitive Courses: MD Radiodiagnosis remains the most sought-after, with top colleges like Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) closing at ranks around 29,000. State colleges like B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad, accept ranks beyond 75,000, while private colleges like Kasturba Medical College close at 9,000–12,000.
  • Vacancy Trends: In 2023 and 2024, cut-offs were lowered (e.g., to 5th percentile in 2023) due to vacant seats. The 2025 cut-offs may adjust if seats remain unfilled.
  • Website Issues: High traffic has caused natboard.edu.in to crash intermittently, frustrating candidates.

Broader Context

The NEET PG 2025 results are a gateway to MD/MS/PG Diploma and DNB/DrNB courses across India, excluding institutes like AIIMS, PGIMER, JIPMER, and NIMHANS. With 1,28,116 qualifiers vying for limited seats, competition is intense, especially for high-demand specializations. The stipend hike for DNB interns (e.g., ₹43,000 for first-year post-MBBS DNB courses) may attract more candidates to these programs. Delhi’s recent nursing intern stipend hike (₹500 to ₹13,150) signals broader healthcare training reforms, potentially influencing medical education policies.

What’s Next?: The MCC counselling schedule is expected by early September 2025. Candidates should prepare for multiple rounds and monitor state-specific guidelines. The focus on single-shift exams and lower cut-offs reflects efforts to streamline admissions, but transparency issues remain a concern.
