The YUVIKA 2026 (YUva VIgyani KAryakram) — Indian Space Research Organisation’s flagship Young Scientist Programme — has officially opened its application window for aspiring young minds interested in space science, technology and STEM careers. The initiative invites students currently studying in Class 9 across India to participate in a two-week residential learning experience at several ISRO centres.
📍 What Is YUVIKA?
YUVIKA is a specially curated programme designed to introduce school students to the fundamentals of space science, satellite technology, missions and research, while motivating them to consider STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers early in their academic journey. The programme includes expert sessions, lab visits, project work and firsthand exposure to space research environments.

📌 Eligibility Criteria
✴ Class Requirement: Only students studying in Class 9 as on 1 January 2026 are eligible.
✴ School: Must be enrolled in a recognised school anywhere in India.
✴ Interest: A passion for science, mathematics and space exploration is encouraged.
🧠 Selection Process Explained
Applicants are evaluated on a merit-based, multi-parameter system that assesses academic performance and extracurricular involvement:
- Academic Performance: Marks obtained in Class 8 or most recent exam — 50% weightage.
- Online Quiz Performance: 10% weightage.
- Science Exhibitions & Co-curricular Activities: 2–10% (depending on level) for participation in science fairs over the last three years.
- Extra Achievements: Additional points for participation or awards in Olympiads, sports, NCC, NSS, Scouts & Guides.
- Rural School Advantage: Students from rural schools (Panchayat areas) receive 15% additional weightage.
- Minimum Representation: ISRO ensures state/UT representation in final selections.

📍 Duration: 12 days (May 11–22 2026)
📍 Format: Residential programme with hands-on learning
📍 Centres: Held at nine ISRO centres, such as:

Selected students will have the following costs fully covered by ISRO:

✔ Travel costs (reimbursed up to II AC train fare or equivalent bus fare upon submission of ticket proofs)
