The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has officially cancelled the controversial Sub-Inspector (SI) Recruitment Exam 2021, bringing a major development in one of Rajasthan’s most debated recruitment cases.
The decision was taken following recommendations from the state government and ongoing concerns over alleged irregularities, including paper leaks and dummy candidates.
The move is being seen as a significant step toward restoring transparency and fairness in the recruitment process for Rajasthan Police SI posts.
Re-Exam Likely in September 2026
RPSC has announced that a fresh SI recruitment examination is expected to be conducted in September 2026. However, officials clarified that this will not be an entirely new recruitment cycle.
Only candidates who had appeared in the original 2021 examination will be eligible to take the re-exam.
According to official figures, nearly 3.83 lakh candidates will be allowed to participate in the fresh examination process.
Why Was the SI Recruitment Exam Cancelled?
The Rajasthan SI Recruitment Exam 2021 remained under scrutiny for several years due to allegations of:
- Paper leaks
- Impersonation and dummy candidates
- Organized cheating networks
- Recruitment malpractice
Investigations into the case reportedly led to multiple arrests and intensified demands from aspirants for cancellation of the recruitment process.
The issue later reached the courts, where concerns were raised about the integrity and fairness of the examination system.
Supreme Court and High Court Developments
The controversy gained further momentum after the Rajasthan High Court cancelled the recruitment process citing compromised examination integrity.
Recently, the Supreme Court also reportedly refused to provide relief to selected candidates who had challenged the cancellation.
Following these developments, the state government recommended a fresh examination, leading to RPSC’s final decision.
Who Can Appear for the Re-Exam?
RPSC has clearly specified eligibility conditions for the re-examination.
Eligible Candidates
- Candidates who appeared in both Paper I and Paper II during the original SI Recruitment Exam conducted between September 13 and 15, 2021.
Not Eligible
- Candidates who registered but did not appear for the exam
- Candidates who appeared in only one paper
The Commission emphasized that no fresh applications will be accepted for this recruitment cycle.
Application Correction Window Opens Soon
Since nearly five years have passed since the original examination, candidates will be given an opportunity to update their application details.
Correction Window Details
- Expected to open from May 16, 2026
- Candidates can update:
- Personal details
- Address information
- Document-related errors
Officials have advised eligible candidates to complete corrections within the specified timeline to avoid issues later during the recruitment process.
Recruitment for 859 Posts
The original recruitment drive was conducted for approximately 859 posts of:
- Sub-Inspector (SI)
- Platoon Commander
Authorities are expected to release a detailed notification regarding the re-examination schedule and updated recruitment procedures in the coming months.
Major Relief for Aspirants
Many aspirants had been demanding a fair and transparent recruitment process for years.
The cancellation of the previous examination and announcement of a re-exam has been welcomed by candidates who believed the earlier process was compromised due to alleged malpractice.
Education and recruitment experts say the decision reinforces the importance of maintaining integrity in competitive examinations.
