In a forward-looking reform to enhance student support systems, the Rajasthan School Education Department has announced the development of a three-year roadmap for career guidance in schools across the state. Built on the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, this initiative aims to shift career guidance from a one-off activity to a continuous and structured process that prepares students for life-long careers, not just academic choices.

The roadmap is being developed jointly by:
- Rajasthan School Education Council (Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan), Jaipur
- Rajasthan State Council of Educational Research and Training (RSCERT), Udaipur
- Technical support from UNICEF Rajasthan and the Antarang Foundation
This collaboration aims to bring best practices and expert insights into effective guidance models.

Students will be encouraged to map career journeys based on interests, aptitude, and abilities rather than merely following conventional paths. This involves helping students to:

Alignment with Recent Career Guidance Innovations
While the roadmap builds a long-term strategy, Rajasthan has already introduced digital tools for student guidance, such as the AI-enabled ‘My Career Advisor’ app that offers personalised career insights based on student aptitude and interests.
However, challenges remain in ensuring accessible use of such tools, especially in rural areas where mobile access and digital literacy vary.
The state also previously ran initiatives like ‘Dial Future’ to counsel students on faculty selection and career options via counsellors, helplines, and online platforms — showing an ongoing commitment to student support.
