The NEET PG 2026 result has been declared by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), putting marks, ranks and qualifying status in focus for candidates seeking admission to postgraduate medical programmes for the 2026-27 academic session.
The result was declared on September 24, after the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Postgraduate courses was conducted on August 30. Candidates can check their result through the official NBEMS website, while the formal NEET PG 2026 scorecard and detailed question-wise response information are scheduled to become available on or after October 1.
For candidates, the numbers released today answer the first big question — whether they have crossed the qualifying threshold. The next, and arguably more consequential, question is where their rank places them in the race for an MD, MS, DNB, DrNB or PG Medical Diploma seat.
NEET PG 2026 Result: What NBEMS Has Released
The result currently provides candidates with their raw marks and NEET PG 2026 rank. NBEMS has also announced the minimum qualifying scores for different categories.

The NEET PG 2026 cutoff has emerged as one of the most searched details following the result declaration.
For General and EWS candidates, NBEMS has fixed the qualifying requirement at the 50th percentile, corresponding to 262 marks out of 720. General PwBD candidates have a qualifying threshold of 45th percentile or 244 marks, while SC, ST and OBC candidates, including PwBD candidates from these categories, need the 40th percentile or 226 marks.
That number represents the minimum qualifying benchmark, not a guaranteed admission score.
For candidates targeting highly sought-after clinical specialities, the eventual competition will be shaped by the candidate’s All India Rank, category, choice of speciality and counselling preferences.
NEET PG 2026 Exam: Why the Result Came After a Re-Examination
This year’s examination had an unusual second chapter.
The main NEET PG 2026 exam was held on August 30, with 2,63,544 candidates appearing. A technical disruption caused by an internal power failure at two examination centres in Jaipur prevented affected candidates from completing the test. NBEMS subsequently conducted a re-examination on September 5.
A further 2,416 candidates appeared in the re-examination.
The inclusion of those candidates in the final result meant that the examination cycle extended beyond the original test date, adding another layer of uncertainty for students already waiting for their ranks and admission prospects.
NEET PG 2026 Scorecard: When Can Candidates Download It?
The NEET PG 2026 scorecard is not the same as simply checking the result and rank.
NBEMS has stated that individual scorecards will be available for download on or after October 1, 2026. Candidates should therefore not be concerned if they can see their result but cannot yet access the final individual scorecard.
The scorecard is expected to serve as an important document during the subsequent admission and counselling process.
Candidates should preserve a copy once it becomes available. NBEMS has indicated that the scorecard will remain available for download for six months from its date of issuance.
NEET PG 2026 Answer Key: What Candidates Will See From October 1
The October 1 update is significant for another reason.
NBEMS has said that candidates will be able to access question-wise examination information through their individual applicant login. This will include the Question ID, correct answer-key ID, response ID marked by the candidate and the score awarded for each question.
This is a notable change in how candidates can examine their examination performance.
Rather than relying only on the final marks displayed in the result, candidates will have an opportunity to see the question-level information associated with their responses and the evaluation.
NBEMS has also stated that its review found no question to be technically incorrect.
