Purpose of the Awards The National Teachers' Awards celebrate the exceptional contributions of teachers who have significantly enhanced the quality of education and enriched the lives of their students. This annual event, held on Teachers' Day, aims to honor educators who demonstrate extraordinary commitment and innovation in their teaching practices. The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, has announced the selection of 50 exemplary teachers for the National Teachers’ Award 2024. This prestigious recognition will be conferred on 5th September 2024 at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi. The selection process, which is both rigorous and transparent, involved three stages: District, State, and National levels.

  • Date of Ceremony: 5th September 2024, 4:15 PM

  • Total Awardees: 82 teachers (including 50 from School Education and Literacy, 16 from Higher Education, and 16 from Skill Development and Entrepreneurship)

Selection Process

The selected teachers, representing 28 states, 3 Union Territories, and 6 organizations, were chosen through a comprehensive online process. This process involved self-nominations, peer reviews, and evaluations at multiple levels to ensure fairness and transparency. Out of the 50 teachers selected from the Department of School Education and Literacy, 34 are male, 16 are female, 2 are differently-abled, and 1 works with children with special needs (CWSN).

Self-Nomination Portal

Self-nominations for the National Teachers’ Awards 2024 were invited from 27th June 2024 to 21st July 2024 through the Ministry of Education’s portal: National Awards to Teachers.
