The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced a series of significant changes to the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduates (CUET-UG) 2025, aimed at enhancing its efficiency and streamlining the admissions process. These updates come after recommendations from an expert committee formed by the UGC, which conducted a thorough review of the CUET-UG and CUET-PG exams for the upcoming academic session.

1. Shift to Computer-Based Testing (CBT):

  • What’s New: CUET-UG will transition to an exclusively computer-based test (CBT), marking the end of the previous hybrid model. This move is aimed at improving efficiency, reducing logistical challenges, and ensuring a more standardized and smooth examination process.
  • Benefits: The shift to CBT will help standardize the exam experience, reduce administrative errors, and provide a more consistent experience for all students.

2. Reduction in the Number of Subjects:

  • What’s New: The number of subjects available for selection will be reduced from 63 to 37. This change is designed to simplify the subject selection process, focusing on the most relevant subjects for undergraduate admissions.
  • Impact: With fewer subjects to choose from, the exam will be more focused and manageable, aligning better with the needs of students and institutions.

3. Uniform Exam Duration:
