All About UCEED: Bachelor Program for Design

UCEED which stands for Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design. UCEED is a national level entrance exam conducted by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) for admission to Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programs at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur. The UCEED examination is held once every year. If you are into designing and are looking forward to pursue a career in designing, then UCEED is the gateway for you.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

REGISTRATION PROCESS

  • 1.Go to the UCEED website: https://www.uceed.iitb.ac.in/
  • 2.Click on the “Register” button.
  • 3.Enter your details, such as your name, email address, and mobile number.
  • 4.Create a password and confirm it.
  • 5.Click on the “Submit” button.
  • 6.You will receive a confirmation email on your registered email address.
  • 7.Click on the link in the confirmation email to activate your account.
  • 8.Once your account is activated, you can log in and fill out the application form.
  • 9.Upload the required documents.

Here are the documents that you will need to upload along with your UCEED application form:

Proof of Date of Birth: A copy of your birth certificate or any other document that shows your date of birth.

Passport-size photograph: A recent passport-size photograph of yourself.

Signature: A scanned copy of your signature.

Qualifying Examination Marks: A copy of your marksheet for the qualifying examination.

Category Certificate: If you belong to a reserved category, you will need to submit a copy of your caste certificate.

  • 1.Pay the application fee: The application fee for UCEED 2024 is INR 1500 for general category candidates and INR 750 for reserved category candidates.
  • 2.Submit the application form

Mode of Examination: CBT (Computer Based Test)

Languages: The exam is held in English only

Reservation: The UCEED exam has a reservation policy for candidates belonging to certain categories. The following categories are eligible for reservation in UCEED:

  • 1.Scheduled Castes (SC): 15% reservation
  • 2.Scheduled Tribes (ST): 7.5% reservation
  • 3.Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL): 27% reservation
  • 4.Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 10% reservation
  • 5.Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 5% reservation

PATTERN OF THE PAPER:

Part A:

Multiple-choice questions on general knowledge, aptitude, and reasoning.

Total number of questions: 80

Duration: 2 hours

Each question carries 1 mark and there is a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer.

Part B:

Drawing-based questions that assess the candidate’s creativity and problem-solving skills.

Total number of questions: 2

Duration: 30 minutes

There is no negative marking for Part B of the exam.

SYLLABUS

Part A

General Knowledge: History, geography, current affairs, science, mathematics, and other general topics.

Aptitude: Logical reasoning, problem-solving, spatial reasoning, and other aptitude-related topics.

Reasoning: Data interpretation, logical deduction, and other reasoning-related topics.

Part B

Creativity: Visual thinking, ideation, and other creativity-related topics.

Problem-solving: Problem-solving skills, design thinking, and other problem-solving-related topics.
