In a major step toward inclusive education and social justice, the Government of India has disbursed over ₹7,981 crore to support the education of more than 75 lakh marginalised students in the financial year 2025–26. The announcement was made by Virendra Kumar, highlighting the Centre’s continued focus on empowering disadvantaged communities through targeted educational schemes.

Scholarship Schemes See Significant Growth
The government has significantly increased funding across multiple scholarship programs, reflecting a strong upward trend:
- Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme: ↑ 21%
- Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme: ↑ 11.23%
- Top Class Education Scheme for SC Students: ↑ 13.5%
- SHRESHTA Scheme (Residential Education): ↑ 16%
These schemes are designed to support students at different stages of education—from school to higher studies—ensuring financial barriers do not hinder academic progress.
Focus on Inclusive Development
According to the minister, the government remains committed to ensuring inclusive development and social justice through welfare-driven policies. The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment is actively implementing programs that benefit:
- Scheduled Castes (SCs)
- Other Backward Classes (OBCs)
- Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)
- Transgender persons and marginalized communities
- Sanitation workers and vulnerable groups
These initiatives aim to bring historically disadvantaged communities into the mainstream education system.
Beyond Education: Awareness and Social Campaigns
Alongside financial aid, the government is also focusing on awareness initiatives like the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which has reached over 26 crore people through campaigns conducted across educational institutions and communities.
An upgraded digital platform is also in the pipeline to enhance monitoring, transparency, and real-time tracking of such initiatives.
