Why September 24 Matters for India

India begins September 24 with 11 medals, but the number of medal opportunities available across rowing, wushu, shooting, canoe sprint and athletics makes Thursday another significant day for the contingent.

The early hours are particularly important. Rowing finals begin shortly after 5 AM IST, followed by Roshibina Devi’s wushu final at 6:10 AM. Canoe sprint and shooting then provide further opportunities before the programme moves into hockey, kabaddi and athletics.

India’s performance in shooting has already provided a strong contribution to the medal tally, while Mirabai Chanu’s silver added a weightlifting medal on September 23.

Asian Games 2026: India’s Campaign So Far

The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games are being held from September 19 to October 4, 2026. India entered the competition seeking to build on its record 107-medal haul at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.

With the competition still in its early stages, India’s medal count is expected to change frequently as more finals take place.

For Indian fans, September 24 will be particularly important because the schedule combines multiple early-morning medal events with high-profile team fixtures and the beginning of major athletics action.

Asian Games 2026 will continue through October 4, with India’s medal campaign now entering another crucial phase.
